In a world increasingly governed by the logic of “our crimes versus their crimes,” the Qur’anic call remains both simple and revolutionary: Stand firmly for justice, even when it is against your own side.
For a small, newly oil‑rich country like Guyana, our ‘sound fundamentals’ rest on global markets and shipping lanes that are suddenly less predictable.
Guyana’s real test is not about a cash grant, but about how wisely we use this moment to our advantage. And given the ridiculous antics of the Opposition, I can’t imagine why anyone could question or doubt the prudence of this president and his ministers.
As Muslims observe these cherished nights of Ramadan, they will undoubtedly be praying for an end to this war and to the wider cycle of vengeance it has unleashed. It is only fitting that all the people of Guyana, whatever their faith, join in praying for a just peace and a permanent end to wars and the destruction of human life.
