For decades, a dangerous myth has cloaked a brutal reality: that the Zionist project in Palestine is divinely sanctioned and thus above moral scrutiny. But no theology, no scripture, no God justifies the burning of children in tents, the bombing of hospitals, or the systematic erasure of a people’s identity and land. As the world bears witness to the horror unfolding in Gaza, Palestine, we must confront the uncomfortable truth – this is not divinely sanctioned, not even Moses’ ten commandments (see Numbers 6, 8, 9 and 10). This is a human-engineered catastrophe, enabled by silence, justified by distortion and sustained by unchecked power—it is time to reclaim faith from those who twist it to excuse genocide.

Here is a Letter to the Editor by Suleiman Bulbulia published in Barbados’ Nation newspaper on May 30, 2025.

Dear Editor,

The greatest lie told, repeated and swallowed by so many over the last 100 years is that the Zionist state of Israel is God’s chosen people, and they can behave as they like with the Palestinians. If there was any doubt as to the depths a human being can go to in his inhumanity to a fellow human, one must look at the Zionists in Israel. They have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that extreme evil, barbarism, and savagery are their characteristics. 

The question is, where are the rest of us who know and witness their crimes and heinous acts daily? What is our excuse? Is it apathy, is it cowardice, or is it simply the feeling that nothing can be done? I cry for the Palestinian people, the horrors brought upon them in the name of the Zionist state of Israel. Persons have been brought before the International Criminal Court for lesser crimes. Yet, no Zionist can be brought to justice for the blatant genocide they are carrying out in Gaza and the rest of Palestine.

The Zionists have proven they can take out Hamas leadership as far away as Iran stealthily yet claim they must bomb and burn indiscriminately hospitals, schools, shelters, UN venues, killing and maiming innocent children, women, the old, the infirm and the sick in the thousands to get rid of their so-called enemies. This twisted logic is swallowed wholeheartedly by the powers that be of this world, who turn a blind eye to the suffering and destruction of human life.

How does a mother, a doctor, helping in a hospital, tending to the sick and injured, reconcile the slaughter of her nine children in their home by the Zionist terror army that targets their home and blows it up? Why are children purposely burned to death in schools, refugee tents, and hospitals? 

Where is our humanity? We see it, we witness it in real time, yet we feel nothing, or we feel but do nothing. Is this what we have become in the 21st century? The systematic destruction, displacement, deliberate starvation, and murder of Palestinians is ethnic cleansing, genocide and crimes against humanity. Yet the so-called mainstream media will not call it that, and those who choose to stand up in the so-called free world and speak to these evils are branded antisemitic, terrorists, and subjected to imprisonment, deportation and harassment. 

The great lie has unravelled in the eyes of the world’s public, but Zionists continue with no regard for that fact and with absolutely no regard for human life.

God’s Mercy be with the Palestinians.
