UK NATIONAL ARCHIVES PHOTOGRAPHS OF CARIBBEAN GO ONLINE

Images from the Colonial Office library photographic collection (CO 1069) and the Central Office of Information British Empire collection of photographs (INF 10) have been added to Flickr so that you can comment, tag and share them easily. The images are also being used to develop exciting national community outreach projects.

Your comments and feedback to help bring this collection to life are being requested so that the collection can share your Caribbean stories and histories with global audiences.

You are asked to advise of any inaccuracies in the descriptions and help map the images where locations are not identified.

The CO 1069 and INF 10 series form a diverse collection of images with a rich variety of content. In many instances little about the contents of the photographs or the people depicted in them are known. This is one of the reasons why these are published online and  people are being to comment and share their knowledge.

Please note the pictures and the captions attached to them are representative of the time they were taken. They frequently use terms that would not be used today. However, our role is to preserve the historic public record, which is why they have been preserved and presented as originally captured.  Click here to view the collection.
