Rasheed A Khan, eldest son of Mohamed Shaheed Khan, grandson of Meer Khan and great great grandson of Moulvie Chand Khan was born in Albouystown, Guyana.

Rasheed migrated to Canada in the mid 1979 from Guyana and now resides in Barrie, Ontario, Canada.  He is a founding member of the Barrie, Ontario mosque, which was also the first mosque north of Ontario.  Prior to purchasing the mosque, salaat and community gatherings were often held at his home and the homes of other Muslim brothers in the community.

Rasheed was elected to various executive positions from 1979 to 1992, and also acted as Imam on occasions until 2004, leading the Jummah, Taraweeh prayer

during Ramadan, the Eid prayer, teaching religious classes in his home, engaging in community work, active in fund raising and purchasing of the first mosque in Barrie.  He is still  active in the non-executive affairs of the mosque, and is a trustee that oversees all aspects of the mosque’s administration.

Rasheed has recorded the construction of the Ruimveldt new Mosque in Guyana almost 40 years ago on a silent movie camera and which he has preserved over four decades and now he has passed on this footage to the entire family so we can all reflect on how this fully functional and modern masjid was built from inception.  Rasheed is thankful to Allah for the opportunity to serve and his family for their support in carrying out the above.
