Today we visited the site of the
Battle of Badr which is two and a half hours away from Madina by bus. One can
only imagine what it would have been like in the days of the Rasul (uwbp). The
terrain, like all I have seen of Arabia so far, is rough, rugged and
foreboding.

Visiting Badr graphically
demonstrated the Rasul’s military acumen. It shows his superior intelligence
e.g. his espionage capability—to know where his enemies were stationed. After
all, Badr is quite a distance away from Madina.
On our return from Badr, I returned to my reading of the Quran.
